In criminal law it is written at many places "opportunity of being heard". Is it oral hearing ? Or with backing of person's facts/documents/etc in submission. Is it same as submission or different ?? Is there supreme court Judgement which explicitly answer this meaning of "being heard"

the basic principle of law is that no one shall be prejudiced without being heard. being heard could mean oral or written pleadings. but if it is oral, the pleadings are generally recorded in the order of the court, so as to maintain record of court proceedings for the convenience of the appellate court.
