How to check the status of passport whether it is blacklisted or not
26-Sep-2023 (In Criminal Law)
I want to know if my passport is blacklisted with Indian immigration. I have been away from India for a long time and returning back; however during this time I had a family issue and an FIR was filed against me in India while I was away. Now that I am returning I need to find out if my passport is black listed so that I can pursue some legal proceedings to avoid any arrest. I am the A1 in the case.

Ensuring that your passport is not blacklisted is crucial for international travel. Here's how you can check its status:
-
Online Passport Seva Portal:
- The Government of India has an Online Passport Seva Portal where you can check the status of your passport.
-
Passport Number:
- To check the status, you'll need your passport number.
-
Visit the Portal:
- Visit the Online Passport Seva Portal and navigate to the 'Track Application Status' section.
-
Enter Passport Number:
- Enter your passport number in the provided field.
-
Submit Query:
- After entering your passport number, submit the query.
-
Check Status:
- The portal will display the current status of your passport. If it is blacklisted or has any issues, it will be indicated in the status.
-
Contact Regional Passport Office:
- If your passport is shown as blacklisted or has issues, it is advisable to contact your nearest Regional Passport Office for further assistance and resolution.
-
Resolve Any Issues:
- If your passport is indeed blacklisted or has issues, you will need to follow the necessary procedures to resolve them. This may involve providing additional documentation or clearing any pending matters.
-
Regularly Verify Status:
- It's a good practice to verify the status of your passport regularly, especially before planning any international travel.
