Got busted by a RPF office for a crime I didn't commit.

20-Nov-2023 (In Criminal Law)
Today I got booked under section 156 (Travelling on roof, step or engine of a train) in the Railway Act of 1989. Truth to be told, I was waiting by the door to deboard the train at the station when this random RPF officer entered the carriage and escorted 15-20 people out, including me. We were given a choice to pay the penalty right away or pay it directly at court, either way I didn't have the money on me. So they took my phone away and made me sign a letter (of their words) stating that I was traveling by the door and since I didn't have the money to pay, I'll appear at the court tomorrow. Honestly, I'm not willing to pay shit for something I didn't do but the letter is what concerns me. What are the odds that I'll get a compensation if I take it to court? Little background: I'm 19 and don't have a lawyer.

Whatever you give in writing to any police officer isn't valid. You need not worry about the implications.
If you want your mobile phone back, go back to them, pay the amount and get it back. On the other hand if you want to sue them, you can move the High Court for your grievance.
