What legal action can be taken in a case of accident occurred in lift

My father went to check an apartment for rent in a building on 3rd floor and while coming back he opened the channel gate of the lift. IT OPENED so he stepped inside but to his astonishment there was no lift and he was falling down in the shaft causing multiple severe and extreme injuries. He has lost both his legs and 3 fingers of his right hand. This accident happened a year ago and since then we as a family are struggling in every angle of life. Kindly someone help us.
you will get compensation for the damages and injury caused to you and your family, provided you have income proof, doctors certificate and prescriptions and FIR of the accident and all the documents regarding the accident and post acccident.

All the precautions against the loss/damages shall be taken by the contractor in case anything happens inside the lift. Is the apartment registered as association? If yes, then you can approach consumer court and sue the contractor. In case of accident during operation of lift, the contractor is liable to pay compensation, as applicable. First of all, send a legal notice to the contractor and demand compensation for the injuries sustained by your father. If the contractor doesn't heed to your request, file a complaint in the concerned consumer court and proceed.
