Threatening to file defamation case for posting a bad reviews

12-Feb-2023 (In Consumer Court Law)

Hi there, I posted a bad review on 2 different websites (mouthshut.com and consumercomplaints.com) for a bad service rendered by a moving company. the delivery of my goods was 2 days late and i incurred some expenses because of the delay. Also damages on some of my goods. I have evidence of the damage and the delay The moving company first politely asked me to remove the reviews. when i raised the topic of reimbursement, they hint at a defamation case. I'd like to know what is my position as a consumer in such circumstances Thanks in advance

If there is such a bad service you can move to the consumer court for damages against moving company. With respect to defamation it depends on what exactly were your wording in the reviews and they will have to prove how they were defamed by the reviews. If you have written the facts experienced by you than it will act as a defence for you as it is a factual truth.

no need to worry at all. its just a pressurizing tactic. you have good case on merits if you have sufficient proof to show that you suffered due to deficiency in services by the company. So defamation can not be proved against u.
