Receiving cheque from court after winning a consumer case

Two years ago,I had filed a consumer complaint against a man who had cheated me by building furniture from low quality wood. Finally,we won the case.I am supposed to receive payment from him via the court.The court has asked me to receive payment from the court by applying for a cheque.How am I supposed to go about this?
After a winning the case from the consumer court, for the execution you have to file a separate petition before the same court . Then the court will send the notice to the respondent for the payment.
