Paid money to institution which is a scam what action can i take?

Paid an institution that is an scam. Can't seem to recover my money. I know for sure that it was fake. They were offering MSc in analytical chemistry via distance. They say they are affiliated with KSOU but I have verified with the university and they don't have any affiliation.
If you have verified the details of he college and you are sure that the college is a fake institution then you must lodge an FIR in police under Section 420, 406, 506, 120B and various other provisions of the Indian Penal Code and then you may also recover your money already paid to the college. As per UGC act only those institution can use the word university that has been recognized by the ugc no other can use it . No institution without getting recognition from ugc can grant master degree. you file a complain with UGC and police also
