Internet provider wants us to pay bill with interest

I moved to a different location. The internet service was not available in the area that we moved to and so we told the service providers to cancel the service but no one came and 3 months later they want us to pay the fees for the service with interest or they will file a case against us for which we will have to go to Delhi. What should I do?
- I did not use the internet service for the 3 months

How did you informed the internet service provider as in written communication through letter, mails, sms, whatsapp? or orally? Normally no one will approach court for such amount of rent as there will be lots of court procedure and court fees also.
