08-Jan-2023 (In Consumer Court Law)
I took admission in a college. I gave all my original certificates to them. I paid fees for 1st semester and thereafter i was unable to pay fees and continue further. When i asked for my originals back. They are saying that i need to pay the pending complete course fees and then they will return my original documents. What action can i take against them?

The said action by the college is highly arbitrary and cannot be allowed.
However, the prospectus and all the relevant details with regard to the admission have to be seen.
The response would also differ in the case of a private institution and a public institution adn without further information no suitable reply can be made

This can be a serious offence on the part of college. In case it is a Government College we can file writ against it. However even if it is not a Government College, we still can file a writ relying upon the latest judgment of Kerala High Court. Also we can prosecute the authorities under other relevant acts

Without any delay file a criminal complaint against them as most of the private colleges are following this illegal and unethical practices to earn more and more. I have also received such kind of cases where the original documents are kept by the colleges for admission. You should also bear in mind that no college asks for original documents to keep in custody and hence you must be vigilant enough. One thing you must remember before filing the criminal complaint either you have receiving of the custody of the original document from that college, or you may now arrange for some proof as it would help you in your case, otherwise they can also very easily deny your allegations. For any further help plz let me know.
