Didn't use service but company sent legal notice u/s 415E, 417 & 420

26-Feb-2023 (In Consumer Court Law)
I bought a reliance post paid modem for 2000.I mailed to cancel the modem due to poor response for customer complaint(promised speed 10mbps,actual 40kbps). But the bill has been generated even after that for two months and I did not pay(I paid for the first month). Now I have got a legal notice stating under section 415E,417 & 420 legal action would be taken

Just mailing the service provided will not be sufficient. You have to send a detailed letter to the company stating that you are surrendering the net connection and request them to not to bill anymore from immediate forthwith. You can visit the company's retail outlet or office in the nearby locality along with a copy of the letter cancelling the net connection and request them to follow up the matter by obtaining an acknowledgment from them in this regard. After that also if you receive any bills, you may send a legal notice to the company about this and seek relief, if they still dont respond but are adamant then you may approach consumer forum.
