02-Feb-2023 (In Consumer Court Law)

I have a prepaid foreign exchange card issued by Axis Bank which has euros in it. However, the card has expired and Axis Bank refuses to refund the outstanding balance (of Euros). Is it possible for the bank to retain the balance?

No, under no provision is the bank entitled to retain your money. However if the bank is denying you the amount it needs to be seen why is it doing so. Also it is necessary to get the denial from bank in writing. It is suggested you give an application in writing to bank and let it deny it or refuse entertaining it, We can follow the legal recourse therefrom. It is advised you get in touch for conclusive advise/ opinion.

You are suggested to consult a lawyer with all the documents in your possession related to the FEC as soon as possible, moreover you may always free to file a consumer complaint against the Axis Bank, but consulting a lawyer with documents always help you better. Thanks

Dear Sir,

Firstly you have to read your terms and conditions which were issued by the Bank at the time of issuing of the card.
If the conditions clearly or partially talks about the refund policy than you can file a recovery sit before the the Hon'ble Court or you can opt to move a complaint before the consumer forum for misrepresentation and deficiency in service on the part of Bank as per section 2 of the Consumer Protection Act.
