Admission was cancelled but college is refusing to return the fees

22-Nov-2023 (In Consumer Court Law)

Admission charges Rs. 64000/- was paid to a nursing college in respect of my daughter's train ing on July 20, 2015. The course was to start on 01/09/2015. As per the prospectus, charges were not refundable. Much before the commencement of the course, admission was cancelled by a mobile message on the ground that original educational certificates could not be submitted to them in time. I sent two letters praying for refund of money deposited by me. But there were no replies. In response to my 3rd letter, their legal officer replied in a line that money was not refundable. Whom can I approach ?

Write a complaint letter to the University Grants Commission (UGC) citing your grievances. A public notice released by UGC dated 23rd April, 2007 directs all colleges and institutions to refund the admission fees in case of withdrawal/ non-admission of student.

You are entitled to get the refund of your money. If you fail to get a reply from UGC, file a complaint in the Consumer Forum for redressal of your grievance.
