: If the disability is more than 40% then the PH person gets Invalid Carraige licence. Take blank Form-1A from RTO and go to the district level govt hospital. A medial check up is required there. The RMO that is Residential Medical Officer of that hospital will certify on Form-1A based on the reports of the medical officers of different branches of that hospital. On Form-1A, RMO mentions that the candidate is fit to drive the vehicle with certain modifications, based on the disability. For example if there is a disability in both legs then the RMO, based on the check-up reports, mentions on Form-1A that “The candidate is fit to drive four wheeler with all controls in hands.” OR “He is fit to drive two-wheeler with side support.” This Form-1A certified by RMO should be attached with the application for learners licence. The class of vehicle printed on the learners licence will not be MCWG or LMV. It will be INVCRG that is Invalid Carriage. The candidate will have to take the driving test in the vehicle which has been modified accordingly. And after passing the test and obtaining permanent licence, he is authorised to drive only such vehicles. Also, in Gujarat, the vehicles which are registered as INVALID CARRAIGE bears IC series on its registration plate and have tax exemption

If you have a problem with your lower leg, an automatic vehicle is available. A vehicle does not need to be modified. If the lower leg (right) is a problem, an automatic or manual car can be purchased. The brake and accelerator, however, must be operated by hand.

The Divyangjan category is open to vehicles owned by persons with a 40% disability. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways asked the states to register disabled people's vehicles under the Divyangjan Category.
