Purchasing of land for road purpose

Good morning sir, My house is connected to a road which width is 16 feet but on a particular point its width is only 3 feet so it is difficult to travel by four wheeler on this road. Several requests were made to the owner of the land near that point either donate or sale his land near that point to increase the width of the road but he is not ready. Can we legally force him to sell his land for public interest?
Legally you can not force him to donate or sell his land. However made an application before compitent authority regarding problem face by you as also other people of the locality. They can solve the issue
