NEET eligibility for student passing 12th through open &distance; mode

20-Jan-2023 (In Civil Law)
The Medical Council of India (MCI) has barred students who have completed class 12 examination through open and distance mode from attending common medical entrance examination (NEET). The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is a educational board under the human resource development (HRD) ministry. In the past, MCI board of governors had said if the required criteria of graduate medical education regulation is fulfilled by students appearing in 10+2 exams by the NIOS, they would be eligible for MBBS admission. “It was proposed by the MCI,”. The examination pattern is same as CBSE practical exam plus theory exam. What can I do now? Please help me

Health Ministry has yesterday reversed the Medical Council of India, MCI's order barring NIOS educated students from NEET 2018 examination following MHRD intervention.

Health Ministry's decision to reverse the barring order and allow the NIOS and other open school students to appear in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET 2018. Official notification of the same is awaited.
