Examination in chief in reagrds to the witness summons issued

i had issued witness summons to bank in order to produce bank statement of an account of the year 1997 but the bankers are unable to locate any so now on next occassion the banker shall file short affidavit stating the same. My qts is that what shall be done ? shall i close the evidence? which may have consequences
i am looking for an alternative or best option how to deal with the said situation.
let the onus be on the bank to file the affidavit that they are unable to locate the statement of account.
after they file the affidavit let the court record the same and thereafter the court will record the same and direct the bank to take necessary steps..till then do not close the evidence..
