Your caste is determined by your birth. By default your father's caste is your caste.

Can I change my caste to SC?

You cannot. You cannot. You can change religion. Your caste will remain the same even if you switch religions.

Can OBC be converted to general?

The Government may change your OBC category to General, if they are satisfied that you have reached parity with the other upper castes. Your caste also does not require reservations because it has no more backwardness. But the Government cant do it on its own. 22-Dec-2016

Does SC belong to OBC?

What is OBC and how does it differ from the SC/ST certificates? OBC is a group of people who have been marginalized throughout history, continue to be oppressed, and are isolated in terms of social, economic and educational issues. They are not classified as SC/ST, but are still considered backward. 31-May-2023

Yes, it can be done by Court intervention after the Court issues directions to the concerned Authorities. You will have to file a writ petition in the High Court within whose jurisdiction you fall. Also, let me know if you have the original caste certificate of your father; in such a situation, we may have an alternate recourse.

It is possible to do this by Court intervention, after the Court has issued administrations to the officials concerned. You must file a writ at the High Court whose jurisdiction includes yours. Caste is not an autonomous decision and is not made by a person.
