How does court decide on child custody in case of more than one child

My wife left me six months back after big fight along with my in laws. I have two kids who are 3.5 and 1.5 years respectively. Now she is allowing me to meet the kids. I am highly qualified with a very good income. My wife also works but less in edu and income. Now I want to seek the custody of atleast one kid. What are the chances I am getting the physical custody of one kid right now? so far she has not filed any case /complaints so far. is it necessary for me to file a divorce case before I seek child custody legally. how does court decide child custody when there are multiple kids
Let me first ask you wether you love your kids ? if yes I am sure you also love your wife .
If no then you should not seek custody of skin and bones half of which belong to her ,which she carried and cared for.
Nature speaks volumes as to how much a mother can take care of her child ,hens bitch,cat,tigress,sparrow,crow etc.
If you still insist for custody then ,you can get custody but that would not be in the interest of child as he needs mother more than father,

You wont get custody of the child as they are too small. but you can definitely ask for the access of the children. like : weekend, holidays like ganpati, Diwali, Summer vacation etc. also birthday access. It is not compulsory that you need to file divorce. you can file for custody / access petition.
