In a cheque bounce case, the term "steps" typically refers to the various procedural steps that the court takes to move the case forward. When a case is initiated, the court will typically issue a summons to the defendant, notifying them that they are being sued and providing them with a deadline to respond.

After the summons is issued, the court may take a number of procedural "steps" to move the case forward, such as setting a date for the first hearing, ordering the parties to exchange documents, or issuing directions for the conduct of the trial.

Therefore, if the case status was previously "issue summons" and it has now been updated to "steps", it likely means that the court has taken some procedural steps in the case, such as scheduling a hearing or directing the parties to exchange documents.

Hi
You have filed the criminal case for dishonour of cheque, the Hon'ble court has taken cognizance, ordered to issue summons to other side/Accused, the summons are not served, so the court has ordered for re-issue of summons, in legal terms it's called STEPS. SO now you have to pay summons charges now.

The stage ‘For Steps’ is essentially the stage wherein the advocate has to pay the process fee and get the notice/summons issued depending upon the nature of the case. In your case the process fee might have not been payed after the judge ordered issuance of summons. Hope this helps.

Steps refers to the stage in the case where the summons was not served on the respondent. The Petitioner must take the necessary steps to serve the summons by filing the appropriate application with the court.
