A Lent Money to an colleague of mine and he is not returning it back he gave me cheques by his name and his wife's name what can I do to get it back

Yes you can recover your money. You have to file a case for cheque dishour since in discharge of his liability your friend has issued the cheques in your favour. There is a strict limitation involved so please take note of that

If you have the cheques then it’s the simplest legal way to get back the money. Deposit the cheques for the amount lent by you. If the cheque is encashed then you get the money and if not then you can filed a case u/s 138 against both friend and wife. For more information kindly provide me further details.

So he gave you the cheque as security, so if the time period is over and he is not returning the amount tell him you are depositing the cheque in the bank and if the cheque get bounced you can approach the court and file a case under sec 142 of the N. I ACT
