Want to deposit 6 year old cheque

I found a old cheque of maturity amount of my investment which is 6 years old, so how can i get the money and what should be the way ahead
You can deposit a cheque of any age, but the bank is not required to cash a cheque older than six months. Thus, it is up to discretion of your bank to cash a stale cheque. Some banks will accept cheque up to 12 months' old as long as you present the cheque in good faith.
