Pension a/c treated as NPA by bank due to online fraud on my Cr card?

07-Oct-2023 (In Banking / Finance Law)
On 1/9/2013 there was online fraud on my credit card for Rs 38700/- & the matter was resolved in Feb 2017 by Write-off but the remaining amt was billed in Mar 2017, so I deposited Rs 1500/- in my charge a/c to close the matter , but Bank of India has treated The Pension a/c as NPA and everytime I go there to withdraw my pension I have to submit Aadhar Card. I am a pensioner retired from Bank of India , can they treat my Pension a/c as NPA ? Please advise me in this matter as I have already deposited Rs5300/- to close this issue amicably.

Dear Client,
Kindly not, in what so ever circumstances, your credit card is not directly linked to your savings account. Further what is the reason for going to withdraw cash every month. You can very well withdraw the same from ATM.

Further it you are Senior Citizen, then you need to, once a year submit Life Certificate to your banker.

There should not be any reason for terming your account as NPA and if they are treating you in such way, you can send legal notice to ask for clarification and justice.

I need more details to understand your matter. But on the basic information what you have provided from that it seems that Bank has no right to declare your Pension Account as NPA as the credit card account and pension account both are separate accounts and also all the dues have been settled on your credit card. You can approach labour court for the same and also write to RBI
