Clarification on expiry of stamp paper and notary registration

29-Nov-2023 (In Banking / Finance Law)
I sent a indemnity with duly notarised in jan 2016 to a company for issue of duplicate share certificates. The company after 6 months rejected the same saying that the validity of both the notary and the stamp paper has expired. Is there any expiry date for stamp paper/notary attestation

There is no such expiry date for a stamp paper. Once the indemnity is duly attested by a Notary Public, its validity cannot be questioned. You may take up with the company highlighting these points. If there is no proper response, you may drag them to a consumer court.

If the indemnity is executed on stamp paper purchased in your name before the date of indemnity it is valid. similarly if it was attested by a notary public has seen you signing the indemnity and his licence is current it is valid. you may serve a legal notice calling upon them to issue a duplicate shares. after receiving reply consider taking action initially to to redress your injury before the designated official of the company.
