Advocate Aahna Mehrotra

Advocate Aahna Mehrotra was admitted to practice in India in May, 2011. She has gained considerable exposure through her experiences at different institutions worldwide.

After completing her schooling from the prestigious Mayo College Girls’ School, Aahna studied law at the ILS Law College, Pune. She then worked at TMT Law Practice, a leading IP firm in Delhi, before leaving for her Master in Entertainment and Sports Law from UCLA, School of Law, U.S.A. During her year at UCLA, Aahna worked in the Intellectual Property and Anti-Piracy department at Warner Bros., Burbank which helped in polishing her skills in the American system.

She further enhanced her skills by pursuing a certificate course in sports law held at the University of Cambridge in collaboration with ISDE, Madrid and a second Master’s degree in Sports Law from ISDE, Madrid. She also has a certificate in Intellectual property rights from The London School of Economics, a certificate in Entertainment Law from the Franklin Pierce Law Centre (University of New Hampshire, U.S.A) and has attended a certificate course in Sports Law and American Law at The University of Geneva, Switzerland, held in collaboration with Duke University, U.S.A.

Aahna has co-authored the second edition of the book ‘Law and Sports in India’ published by Lexis Nexis. She is actively involved in day-to-day affairs of firm practice. Apart from working on matters in the National Anti-Doping Tribunal, she advises clients on matters relating to transfer of players, league formulation, intellectual property rights, media and broadcasting rights, sponsorship and merchandising agreements, gambling, fantasy sports and contract law.

Having played cricket for the India Under-19 women’s team and several other sports at the state level, Aahna has always had a strong desire to club both vocation and passion and therefore, takes a keen interest in sports law. Her other areas of practice involve Intellectual Property, Entertainment and Media laws. She is a member of the International Association of Sports Law, the British Association of Sports and Law, and the ASSOCHAM Sports Council.

Advocate Aahana enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi in 2011. She is a member of the Delhi High Court Bar Association.
