My family is Hindu. My father died last month. My mother said that my father has left behind a will. She claims it is with a lawyer and she will neither inform the lawyer of my father's death nor will she give me the lawyer's contact details. Please tell me my legal options, if any, to bring the will to light . What can i do ?

File for a partition suit with your share in it and make your mother a party. Subsequently ask her to produce the copy of the will in court. You will get the will and your share from the court directly.

You may give legal notice through a lawyer to your mother and brothers/sisters,if there are, asking partition of properties. In reply to the same she may give details of the Will, if there is any, otherwise , it means there is no Will. then you can file suit for declaration and partition.
