It is not mandatory to register a will, although it is advisable to get it registered to make it more authentic. Will made in presence of two witnesses signed by them and your mother is legally valid without any stamp duty. If you want to get it registered then there is a provision where the sub-registrar comes at your place and the will is registered in his presence when a person is bed ridden etc.. Please consult for further details.

If your mother owns property she can execute Will with the help of a lawyer and register the same by requesting the registrar who can come to home for the purposes on prescribed fee. However registration of Will is not compulsory.
