It is presumed that the will is of a Hindu and the property is immovable property (and not a flat) situated in Mumbai. If this is the case, then the executor named in the will has to file a probate petition in the High Court and obtain a probate of the will. Once the probate is obtained, on the basis of the same along with other documents, application would have to be made to the revenue authorities and sub-registrar for mutation of name of the legatee in the records.
