Can i file Defamation case against my collegues for insult in public

3 of my colleagues have made fun of me in a office drama/play during annual day, defaming me that i have bad character, i ask all office female colleagues to have tea/coffee with me and because of which they are all scared of me. This is all false allegation and they had fun of me in front of everyone which is not accepted, i want to file defamation case against the 3 along with some monetary compensation so one one every dare to do such cheap activity on anyone in future.
Yes you can file police complaint against the said 3 persons for defamation under section 499 of Indian Penal Code, (45 of 1860). Although, it is quite difficult to prove such allegation in criminal nature.
