In the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India caveat is filed through an Advocate-on-Record(AOR). When the opposite party prefers an appeal then the opposite party has to serve upon the AOR through which you have filed your caveat. After serving advance notice , matter is listed before the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India.
When service is made then your AOR should give intimation regarding the same and accordingly you will get to know.

If you have filed Caveat in Supreme Court, the Advocate on Record will get a message on his mobile the moment a diary number is generated on the case filed by your opponent. After the case is numbered, it will not be listed in the court unless a copy of the petition is served on the caveator and proof of service is filed in the Registry.

Caveat simply means that if after the determination of the issues in the case after passing of an Judgement/order if the party against whom caveat is sought seekds to file an appeqal for the same , He/she shall inform the caveator well in advance and also supply a copy of the appeal to the caveator before filing such appeal.
