What are the legal requirements for starting e commerce company

I am going to start an e-COmmerce. I have only done partnership deed, and rent agreement. What i need to do before starting like registration, terms and condition,privacy policy, return policy. What i have to do and how?

The number of documents/compliance which are required depends if you are running a marketplace or selling goods directly to the Clients. Some of the basic documents you would require are-:
1. Commission agreement with the vendors (if marketplace)
2. T&C for website
3. Privacy policy
4. Agreement with software developer
5. Agreement with employees
6. Service tax registration (might not be required till 10,00,000/- revenue but it is better to take it from initial stage)
7. Trademark registration for your brand

You will need to draft the terms of your website, privacy policy, return policy. Apart from this if there is a payment gateway on your website , then you need to enter into an agreement for that too. Also you may need NDAs, vendor agreement or other agreements or vat or service tax registration depending on your business.

It seems that you want to start the operation through a partnership firm. Please understand that legally there is a difference between a partnership firm and a company. Now that you have executed the partnership deed, it is important that you get your partnership firm registered. The registration of partnership firm will not take much time. Once the firm is registered, you would need to obtain PAN, TAN, Service Tax Registration, VAT Registration etc.
