You should register the name of the company as a trademark if you are going to be using the same in respect of your good and services and promote the same. However if you are not going to use the company name in respect of your goods and services and only as a corporate name, then you should register the name of the products. A trademark is a mark which identifies the products or services of a particular source and differentiate the said goods from those of others.

Dear Querist

You need to register the name of the company as per Companies Act, 2013. You also need to register the name of your brand with trade mark authority and the logo as well (if it is not same as your brand name). Further, you would be required to take registration under VAT if you are selling goods. If the online portal is being run by you then you need to get the terms & condition and privacy policy drafted. These are the most basic things which you are required to adhere to. We help start-ups process all these requirements so let us know in case you require any assistance on this.
