Can I start a company with a similar idea

30-May-2023 (In Startup Law)
Hi, can we replicate a successful startup idea from other country to our country with put any IP or Patent related legal issues? Example can we replicate Airbnb in india? With some name, logo and business flow changes? How can some one patent an idea alone? If we look at Ola, it's a replica of uber. Flipkart is a replica of Amazon and Snap deal was replica of Groupon. How does it works?

No one can sue you for creating a business that operates on a similar model unless you are violating a patent or trademark.

If you mean whether you can start a similar business as (for example) flipkart, then the answer is yes, you can. However, it is illegal to replicate any intellectual property belonging to them. This may include the source code of the app or in some cases, the product that you want to sell.
