Can I hire people and offer equity until the start-up is registered?

I'm working on a start-up of my own and would like to recruit friends and interns as a part of the team. How to proceed with the process? How can I offer them salaries/stipends or equity that ensures their trust on the upcoming firm?
You can draft a contract for the same and include confidentiality clause where the intern will be bound not to disclose any confidential details anywhere.
