03-Feb-2023 (In Recovery Law)
I am a freelance content writer and I work for different companies. Before few months, I worked for a company (online) named AS Contents located at my city. The verbal agreement was to pay me weekly. I received the payment for the first week. The payment was sent to me via NEFT transfer, a amount of Rs. 1042/-. Second week's payment was of Rs 2500/- which is still due. I have been asking for it since a month now, but the person doesnt pick up calls and even he blocked me in whatsapp. what can I do to get my money back? I am a student and this small amount of Rs 2500 means a lot to me.

You can move to a civil court and file a suit for recovery of that amount and consult a lawyer for that purpose. You can also, send a legal notice through your lawyer to the opposite party for the same purpose.

Dear Querist,

1. Send the company a Demand Notice through a lawyer. Hopefully, the company would pay back your dues since it is a small amount and the company would not want to get entangled into unnecessary legal tussle.

2. However, if the company still does not pay up then send a Statutory Notice of winding up to the company address to the registered address of the company.

Note: In 80% of the cases involving small amount, the above preliminary legal action works in the form of creating pressure on the company to repay the dues but if the company is still unwilling to pay then you have to initiate the litigation proceeding (Money suit or Winding Up) which may lead to make you incur more than the principal amount which you are seeking to recover.
