How to recover money not returned by borrowing friend

Hi i purchased a product with my money on behalf of my friend in online through his approval. Later cancelled and money got refunded in his account. But he is not paying back to me. How can i get my money back...?
In this case you can send him a legal notice through your lawyer stating the recovery of amount due.If he does not comply with the terms of the notice then you can file a suit against him under the recovery suit provisions of civil procedure code.If you want you can also file a complaint against him under section 420 of IPC for cheating.
