How to recover money lent to a friend? Where should I file the case?

Hi, I gave 1L to a friend as he lied to me that he need this for some emergency and will return in a month. but its more than 6 month now and he is not returning. also got to know that he was involved in playing casino etc. I stay in bangalore and person is on chennai. what are my options , can I send him a legal notice to start the process.

Do you have any security for the same, like cheque or any other insturments.

Hi, If you want the issue to be settled asap then you can go to the area police station where your friend stay and file cheating complaint. You may send legal notice but it may not be as good as filing police complaint. You can think of filing civil recovery suit against person as well.
