How can i recover my money from a friend?

i lend some money to my friend have no written thing. he is not returning the money now. but i do have the proof of him saying that he has taken my money. the police is also not helping me to recover the money. what can i do?
you have two options : 1. you can file a criminal complaint / FIR against the friend with the police authorities for the offence of cheating. If the Police authorities do not co-operate, then you can file a private complaint against the friend. But if you have no proof of lending money, you should at least file relevant bank statements and affidavits/statements of witnesses who will say that, they have seen you lending the money.
2. You can also file a Civil suit for recovery of the money with the competent civil court.
