will daughters also get equal share in grandfather's property

The self properties belong to grandfather and grandmother who passed away in 1998 and 2001 respectively,has not shared thier property to their children. Here all their childen ar married before 1992(1son,and 3 daughters ).they was no will made by my grandparents. Now their daughters are demanding equal share in the properties. Will the property be shared equally among four or will it favours son or their daughters. Please suggest me regarding above issue

Since the property were in grand parents name and the grandfather expired in 1998 without any will the property in the name of the grand father devolve intestateto the LR's of youe grandfather excluding daughters as the amendment toproviding shares to the daughters came only in year similarly grandamothers property also devolve on oly son and not on daughters as she expired before amendment to HINDU SUCCESSION ACT.
