What is the procedure of getting succession certificate

Hi, I lost my mother who owned a flat (Hindu descent). She has been separated from her husband (my father) for years. She died without a will. I need to get the flat transferred to my name. I am told that succession certificate charges a huge amount which I will be unable to generate. What other option do I have?

If you are the only son/daughter of your parents and if there is no dispute regarding the property, then to get succession certificate is not too expenses. Succession certificate is the only way to get the property transferred in your name if there is no will prepared by your mother.
