Caveat is a document filed by a person, party to a dispute / matter in court of law / judicial authority that not to decide the matter or to take / pass any action / order without giving an opportunity to hear the said person who had filed caveat. It remains valid for three months from the date of filing.

It is filed in the prescribed format as given in cpc.
