What are the legal requirements before buying a resale property

advice me on buying a resale flat, the seller has lost his original saledeed, he has certified true copy of that from sub-registars office. also he has copy of pollice fir for lost, copy of national & local news paper publication of lost, an affidavit by notary for lost. last 15 yr EC is showing his name in property list. how extent it will be ok to buy this flat otherwise what other steps can be taken to buy the flat.

The best part of verification is the E. C. Other documents as mentioned by you as possesed by him are ok and there is no problem.
One important thing before buying is that talk to the Society of the building, where the flat is located. Take a no objection from the society of the building with regards to the flat and so also up to date Electricity bills, Government Rent, Society dues etc.
