02-Sep-2023 (In Property Law)
Some one cut down 6 coconut trees which were in my property for increasing width of public road, without my permission. Is it legal to do so? If no what can I do to get compensation for that? Please advise. Thanks.

No it is not legal to cut any tree until and unless they have permission of the owner and the forest department along with the municipal corporation. You may file a complaint against them in the nearest tribunal as well as with forest department regarding this issue

The action of cutting down the trees in your property is unlawful and you have the option to initiate civil as well as criminal action. The priority should be for the criminal action. Lodge an FIR or move the Magistrate court for an investigation by the Police.

Illegal tress pass and cutting of tree is not permissible by law. It is an offence under Indian penal act .File a criminal case against that person and also file a damage case against him for realizing damages.
