Purchased a land villagers claiming the property what to do

Hi, My father recently purchased land near Thirumullaivoyal, Chennai. After buying the land, there is some problem from that villagers asked for money. It is tenant problem. They are asking to pay Rs.40,000/ground to take ownership of our land. They are saying, this land is belonging to them before 50-100 years. We also raise a complaint on Police, they also asked to give money. How should we handle this situation ?
