Ownership Transfer of residential property
27-Sep-2023 (In Property Law)
I and my wife are the joint owners of our residential house in Bangalore. I want to transfer the ownership of this house to her name alone. What is the process of doing it?
Since you and your wife are joint owners of a residential house situated in Bangalore, the easiest and hassle free way to effect transfer of your share into the name of your wife completely would be;
a) Through a registered Release Deed or
b) Through a registered Gift Deed.
Registration to be done where the property is situated and both the parties to be present at the time of registration. This process is less cumbersome and can be completed with fixed stamp duty and registration charges.

You can transfer the property by transferring total ownership title in her name. In other words, instead of two persons as joint owners, your wife will be the sole title holder. You have to pay applicable stamp duty ONCE AGAIN and register.
