loan borrowed by father against our house from money lender

22 years before my father had borrowed loan of Rs.7000 from a person against documents of our house, no one was aware, after his death, private moneylender send us a legal notice claiming our house. We are still living in that house from last 25 years. Please help me and my family is in trouble.

hi,
dont worry about the house, even in worst situation pay back rs.7000 with interest and your house will be safe. I suggest first let him prove his case, there are lots of legal barriers for him including litigation. Money lending without license is illegal. You first reply to his legal notice as early as possible.

Kindly let me know if there is any deed of mortgage signed between your late father and the said moneylender.
As mentioned by you the loan amount looks minuscule to claim for your house in against of the said amount.
Kindly let me know if there is any amount of interest due. Also let me know if you still have original documents with you or is it actually submitted to the moneylender.
