Land acquisition by Government Before many year ago what to do

few part of my farm taken by goverment before 20 year ago now from goverment office they they give in writing there is no record found why this part of farm they will taken. How to take it back from goverment?

The land can only be acquired by the governement for public purpose and the said acquired land must be used for the very purpose for which it was acquired and not for any other purpose.
If the governemnt is unable to provide details it means that mostly they have not utilised the land or it has been utilised for some other purpose.
In both scenarios the action is illegal.
