Is a verbal confirmation a binding agreement?

we had a verbal confirmation with a person for building some property. we had stopped it due to some problem. there is no written agreement btw us. now i have received a Legal Notice from a lawyer. what can i do?

Please put together a suitable reply to the said legal notice laying down in the reply the various reasons, legal and factual, as to why you were compelled to cease the construction work and as to why the demand as contained in the legal notice is not made out. You also may have a diametrically opposite remedy which can be elaborated upon only directly

Yes, an oral contract is valid and binding in law. However the same can only be proved through circumstantial evidence and the witnesses who were present during the said discussion. Therefore, in case there was no one and things cannot be proved, you are safe. Rest the Notice needs to be reviewed for better opinion.

You may contact an expert advocate explain brief facts to him and send reply to the legal notice and need not to worry. caution Do not send reply to legal notice on your own you may fall in big difficulty.
