How to recover money from friend

hi sir ' I pay Rs 7.42 lakh in cheque to a college friend in 2012 for a land but when ask for registration of land he shows problems . when I ask to return my money he gave a pdc worth 1 lakh only . now what to do to get my money back
First of all try to make written communication with him so that you kind of trick him into admitting that he has received 7.42 lakhs from you in shape of cheque. Then you can file a money recovery suit to get your money back. However, the fact that even he has given you 1 lakh in PDC, he can also make a counter-claim that you also owed him money. You might have to be careful here.
