How to deal with builder asking for maintenance charges

15-Jun-2023 (In Property Law)
I have purchased a flat from the buyer before taking possession i paid maintenance of Rs. 1,00,000/- meant for electricity, meter, water connection etc. Again builder is asking for Rs. 18,000/- as deposit under the pretext of annual post -maintenance charges which he says shall be refundable to the society on formation of society. Is it mandatory to pay ?

Hi,
Whether maintenance charges asked by builder over and above the already paid amount is mandatory to pay depends on society rules. You can pay amount but get it written in your contract document that same shall be refundable. In such way you will be secure in future if refund is denied to you.
