01-Mar-2023 (In Property Law)

I am going to purchase a flat recently. I have some questions.. 1. How can I know that the flat is freehold or not. 2. Can I experience the ownership forever by inheritance i.e. my next heirs & on. 3. After a long tenure, if I want to repair/reconstruct for damaged portions? 4. How the percentage of legal rights on land is determined for flat owners?

You can file an RTI to find out if the flat is freehold property or not. Once you purchase the flat, you will be the complete owner of the flat and have right to dispose it as you wish and can be inherited by your legal heirs in case of your death. You can repair the damaged portions of your flat in a manner you want. All the other portion of the building will be beared equally by all the occupants of the building. The land of the building is to be enjoyed commonly by all the occupant of the building.
